Located a racetrack away from the Porsche Stuttgart factory is renowned Porsche tuners Techart. This is their latest edition – modeled around the 911 Turbo and Turbo S – the 911 GTstreet R.
Out of the Stuttgart factory the 911 Turbos are notoriously fast. In a straight line very few cars will live with one. Techart have added even more power and even more aero to create an animal. A 710hp animal to be precise.
One thing that is unquestionably noticeable is the Carbon. Wings, vents, ducts – all strategically placed after extensive wind tunnel use. This provides GT3 racecar downforce and GT3 racecar cooling with active aero at the front providing cold air to the intercoolers. At the rear multiple spoilers and ducts provide a Techart claimed 320kg of downforce at 186mph. That really is race car territory. Vents at the front provide cooling to the massive brakes.
The downforce is needed – Currently, Techart offers upgrades to 632bhp, but will offer up to 710bhp in early 2017. Even in 632bhp trim, it’ll reach 62mph in 2.7sec and hit 210mph.
Think of this Techart 911 then as a half way house between a Porsche 911 Turbo and a Porsche 911 GT3 racecar and in our opinion, that’s not a bad place to be.
